Bargarh/Bhubaneswar: Trapped in the allegation of poll code violation, Odisha Finance Minister Prasanna Acharya on Friday responded to media over the matter saying that he would reply to the State Election Commission (SEC) after receiving the notice officially.

“I came to know about the SEC’s show cause notice from news paper. I will reply to the notice after getting the letter from SEC officially, but not now,” Acharya told media after casting vote in Bargarh today.

The minister while campaigning for BJD candidates at ward No. 19 of Bargarh municipality on Sunday had reportedly said, "I am Odisha's Finance minister. Funds are in my hands. If you vote for Congress I shall lock the funds. I have told people everywhere, if you vote for the 'Hand' symbol my treasury is locked for you."

The speech created much hue and cry following which opposition Congress and BJP demanded his resignation. Separate delegations of Congress and BJP met the state Election Commissioner A K Tripathy on Thursday and submitted memoranda seeking immediate proceeding against Acharya.

Talking to media, Tripathy had said, "I have received written complaints from both the Congress and the BJP. The Commission has sought clarification from Acharya about the allegations.”
