(image) Bhubaneswar: AICC`s new in-charge for the State Jagdish Tytler on Tuesday reached the State capital as the row over his visit to Jagannath temple continues.

Tytler, who is here to strengthen the party`s dwindling base, rubbished the controversy and reiterated his claim that he is a Hindu.

The Congress leader stated that he had earlier visited the temple four times and this issue is being brought up as he was highlighting the various scams that the BJD government has confronted in the recent past.

According to reports, Tytler after meeting the leaders of the party`s various wings will finalise plans to counter the State Government`s campaign against the UPA government at the Centre in the recent months for allegedly neglecting the cause of  State on various fronts.

Earlier, the controversy had sparked off when members of BJD claimed that Tytler was not a Hindu and should not have been allowed inside the Puri temple.

On March 15, Tytler had visited the 12th century shrine at Puri. According to tradition, only Hindus are allowed inside the temple.
