Raygada: Taking advantage of the mudslinging between the state and naxal leader Sabyasachi Panda over the alleged ongoing anti-rebel operations in the naxal-hit areas, Maoists on Tuesday night killed Dev Gagranga, husband of Hanumanthpur sarpanch Lahari Gagranga.

Nearly six armed cadres along with fifty Mao supporters came to the sarpanch’s house late Tuesday night and shot her husband dead nearly two hundred metres away from the house after asking him to come outside. The hand written poster near Dev’s body read that he paid the price for being a suspected police informer. The letter also threatened seven others in the village. According to Raygada SP Anup Krishna police suspect the hand of mao leader Nikhil Group behind the attack.

After committing the heinous crime, the Maoists had gone to village Hakuspanga, nearly 12 km from Hanumantapur and searched for one contractor Malla Gudluka, who was not at home at that time.
