Banapur: As many as 260 students of Niladriparsad Ashram School under Banpur block in Khurda district have left the school alleging the headmaster of neglecting treatment of a Class VIII student who died on December 2.

According to sources, parents of the 260 inmates took away their wards alleging that the ashram school headmaster, Bhabani Shankar Parida had shown careless attitude in treatment of a Class VIII student Bikash Pradhan.

The incident had prompted anger among the parents and their wards who alleged that the headmaster should be immediately transferred to other school.

After getting information, officials of the district administration reached the school to hold discussion with the parents and school authorities. However, the meeting remained inconclusive.

"Taking note of the situation, we have ordered for a probe into the incident and action will be taken as per the law," said Manoj Kumar Nayak, the District Welfare Officer.

In his reaction, the headmaster however clarified, "I have not shown any negligence towards the treatment of the student. When the student fell ill, he was immediately admitted to the hospital and proper treatment was ensured.”
