Dhenkanal: A video of people entering premises of an examination centre for allegedly providing chits to students has gone viral. The students were appearing for English paper during Matric examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE).

The matter was reported at Palasapithia Ghada Panchayatiraj High School in Bhuban block of the district today.

Despite presence of police, people were seen entering the exam centre following which questions are being raised over sanctity of the examination and security of students.

Responding to the incident, BSE president Jahan Ara Begum said that steps will be taken to strengthen security at these exam centres.

"As such instances have been brought to the board's notice, we will issue a directive to such exam centres to implement Sec 144. We will also identify these exam centres as hyper-sensitive in case of any indiscipline such as entry of outsiders," Begum added.

On the other hand, the Dhenkanal District Education Officer (DEO) Sudhananda Parida refuted the allegations by saying that such instances are not possible at examination centres.

"Adequate number of police personnel has been deployed at all exam centres in the district. Besides, teachers have been prohibited from taking mobile phones or other electronic devices to the exam centres. In any circumstances, the instance of providing chits is not possible," Parida added.
