In a significant development regarding the untimely death of popular Odia singer Humane Sagar, Cuttack DCP Rishikesh Khilari on Monday said that an investigation is underway into the death of Humane Sagar, based on a complaint lodged by his mother, Shefali Suna.
Responding on the matter, the DCP clarified that the probe is being conducted strictly on the basis of the allegations mentioned in the complaint. The Cuttack DCP stated that the individual named in the complaint will be brought under the ambit of investigation and questioned as part of the due process.
Medical Reports Awaited
He further added that the police have already contacted the medical authorities. The case will be analysed in detail once the medical report is received.

Response from Cuttack DCP Rishikesh Khilari:
“We have registered a case based on the allegations made by Humane Sagar’s family, and the matter is currently under investigation. Further action will be taken after examining the medical documents related to his treatment. Since the treatment was conducted at AIIMS, we are in constant coordination with the concerned doctors. The investigation will move ahead once additional reports and expert medical opinions are received. The probe is ongoing, and our team is carrying out an extensive search to collect evidence. As part of the investigation, we have already obtained certain medical report documents,” said Cuttack DCP Rishikesh Khilari.
Police officials maintained that all steps are being taken as per procedure, and further action will depend on the findings of the investigation and medical examination.
Earlier, demanding a fair probe into her son’s death, late singer Humane Sagar’s mother Shefali Suna included his wife Shriya in her complaint. The heartbroken mother demanded a transparent investigation into her son’s death, with Shriya being named in the police complaint.
Humane Sagar, whose voice once filled every Odia household with emotion, breathed his last after a gruelling 72-hour battle on advanced life-support systems at AIIMS Bhubaneswar on November 17, 2025.
