Huge cache of explosives seized from Narayanpatna

Bhubaneswar/Narayanpatna: BSF personnel and local police in a joint combing operation seized large number of steel containers filled with explosives from Musalmunda forests in Narayanpatna of Koraput district on late Monday night.

The security personnel seized three landmines each weighing 22 kg, three tiffin bombs weighing about 5 kg each and one country-made gun along with huge amount of wires, safety fuse and control system used to blast landmines from a den in the forest.

The explosives were dumped by the ultras at a place in the forest in half-prepared condition apparently for future use by connecting those wires, a BSF commander said.

Combing operation in the area has been intensified after the seizures.

Earlier on December 8, the last day of ‘PLGA Week’ observation heavy exchange of fire took place between the security personnel and Maoists near Kanaguda under Kalimela police limit of Malkangiri district. Jawans later seized huge amount of explosives including wires and landmines from the area.
