Bhubaneswar: The House Committee formed by the Odisha Assembly today decided to issue a notice to journalist Abhijit Iyer Mitra over his alleged derogatory remarks against Odisha asking him to depose on October 11.

Following the House Committee meeting, Leader of Opposition and chairman of the committee Narasingha Mishra said Iyer will be asked to present his side at room no 55 of the Assembly at 11 AM on October 11.

Sources said the committee has found truth in the privilege motion passed by the Assembly against the journalist.

Earlier, summons were issued to the Odisha DGP and Intelligence Director asking them to appear before the House Committee by September 28.

While Mishra is the chairman of the House Committee, Debi Mishra, KV Singh Deo, Pramila Mallick, Arun Sahoo and Sanjay Das Burma are the other members of the Committee.

On September 20, Iyer was arrested by police in Delhi on charges of making derogatory remarks on Odisha and was granted bail thereafter.
