Bhubaneswar: AICC General Secretary in-charge of Orissa Jagdish Tytler on Friday said "It is shameful that MLAs were bribed by the ruling BJD during the RS polls."

On the other hand, terming the chief minister referring the matter to home department as an `eye wash`, state BJP president Juam Oram said only a CBI probe could reveal the truth.

Joining the chorus, Independent nominee Tara Ranjan Patnaik, who lost the polls to the BJD`s third candidate Baishnab Parida, also demanded a CBI probe.

While two ministers were accused of horse-trading, the role of two Congress MLAs in the last year`s RS poll were also suspected. Congress had suspended Shibaji Majhi, an MLA for his alleged role in it.

Two Congress MLAs had abstained in the RS poll which was held on June 17, 2010.

BJP had also suspended its MLA Bhimsen Choudhury who too had refrained from voting defying the party whip.

A recent audio tape released by a television channel also pointed a finger at two other BJP MLAs accusing them of making a financial transaction for supporting the Independent candidate Tara Ranjan Patnaik.

With the horse-trading allegations snowballing into a major controversy, the state government today announced that the home department, which is under chief minister`s portfolio, would look into the matter.

The Opposition parties, BJP and Congress, have raised questions over the impartial probe of the horse-trading row as chief minister holds the home portfolio.
