Cuttack: What would you do on finding a bag containing cash and ornaments? Well, many might think of keeping it but a couple has now become the talk of the town for returning baggage to its rightful owner.

One Bijayananda Mohanty and his wife Pratibha Mohanty of Bramhana Khandi village under Nischintakoili block of Cuttack district reportedly found a handbag containing gold ornaments, valuables and some cash near Salepur.

The couple, without any second thought, contacted the rightful owner by using the mobile phone which they had found in the bag along with other valuables. The couple was taken aback after they learnt that the baggage belonged to one Sridhar Sahoo, a constable posted in the office of Cuttack DCP.

Cuttack DCP Akhilesvar Singh felicitated Bijayananda and Pratibha for their exemplary action. "He (Bijayananda) used the mobile phone so trace the actual owner of the baggage. We felicitated the couple as most people after finding some money or jewellery usually tend to keep it," Singh said.

"Neither I counted the money, nor touched the jewellery. Just I took out the mobile, called its owner to return his property. It was really satisfying after Commissionerate Police felicitated me for my honesty. I want others to do the same," said Bijayananda.
