Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police have decided to interrogate Chitra Athwani at her Darbhanga residence in Bihar after she has sent a letter to police attaching a medical report mentioning that she would not be able to depose before it as per the summons.

The doctor’s report reportedly read that she was injured after a fall at her home.

Earlier the Mumbai-based airhostess, whom Commissionerate police have served second summons in connection with the arrest of Deccan Chronicle group vice-chairman P.K. Iyer, sought anticipatory bail in the Orissa High Court.

Before serving the summons, police commissioner RP Sharma had said if Athwani fails to depose this time, a warrant will be issued to arrest her.

Athwani neither deposed before the police nor responded to the June 16 summon issued by the police. According to police sources, the summons was issued at Athwani’s Darbhanga address in Bihar.

Athwani’s link with Iyer came to fore after his arrest in a midnight soup on June 7 from a room in city-based five-star hotel Trident booked in her name. Preliminary investigations have revealed that both Athwani and Iyer had stayed together in the hotel for 10 days.

Later, Athwani booked another room in the hotel in her name and left the city. But Iyer continued to stay in that room till his arrest.
