Bhubaneswar: Amid world-wide scare over outbreak of Coronavirus, a homeopathic medical college in Bhubaneswar claims to have innovated a preventive cure for the infection making people rush to the institute in large numbers to avail the medicine since Monday.

As per reports, Dr. Abhin Chandra Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital in Bhubaneswar has been distributing a preventive medicine called Arsenicum Album 30 following an outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus. Though, there are no confirmed reports yet to establish their claim, panicked residents were seen making beeline to get their hands on the medicine.

A resident of Bhubaneswar standing in the queue said, “We are all panicked after coming to know about the outbreak of Coronavirus. No allopathic medicine has been developed yet to deal with the viral infection. So when I heard that a homoeopathic medicine is available, I rushed here to get it.”

“I came here to get my mother treated, when I saw that a preventive medicine for Coronavirus infection is already being distributed so I too decided to get one for me and my mother," said another man.

As per reports, a special OPD has been set up by the hospital authorities to distribute this medicine.

When OTV asked the pharmacist who was distributing the medicine at the hospital counter about the huge number of people coming to get medicine, he said, “There aren’t any side effects of this medicine. More than 200 people had taken the medicine yesterday. Many others have also come today to avail the medicines.”

A.K Mohapatra, a doctor of the hospital said, “Our treatment is based on symptoms. So we are advising Arsenic Album to the patients as a preventive medicine as well as a cure for the disease.”

“Central Council For Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), our highest appellate body has also prescribed us the medicine. We hope people will greatly benefit from this,” added Mohapatra.

Meanwhile, Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET) today clarified that the medical student from Kandhamal who was suspected to have contracted the virus has been tested negative. So far six out of seven samples sent for lab testing to Pune-based National Institute of Virology have no traces of Coronavirus.

DMET Director CBK Mohanty said, “The government is alert on this issue. Special beds for Coronavirus treatment in SCB hospital has been increased to 150 from 84. Each DHH in the State has been asked to reserve 5 beds for such patients.”

So far, out of 14 suspected cases in Odisha, 13 people had returned from China and one from Thailand. 2 persons are in SCB and 12 others are under house surveillance.
