Hockey World Cup 2018: Kalinga Stadium to remain under dense security cover

Bhubaneswar: Keeping the mind the upcoming Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018, the venue – Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha – will remain under dense security cover.

Information regarding the security of the venue was shared by Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty today.

“A contingent headed by DCP (Armed Police) has been assigned the responsibility of security at Kalinga Stadium,” Mohanty said.

“Steps are being taken not to affect the work at the stadium. The Ids of all the people working at the stadium like event management professionals will be verified before entry,” Mohanty informed.

Mohanty further said “Though there are around 8 or 9 gates into the stadium and security will be beefed up at all the gates.”

The security has been tightened keeping in view the presence of international players. More than 20 kiosks will be put up across the city for convenience of these foreign players, sources said.
