Historic Baliyatra festival opens, duration extended

The festival which was earlier slated for seven days got one day extension when Patro bowing to massive demand from the locals announced that the festival would end on November 17.

The sprawling Baliyatra ground has over 1300 stalls showcasing various products ranging from traditional household articles to latest electronics gadgets.

While it is expected that on an average four lakh people would visit the festival ground everyday, the city police have also made unprecedented security arrangements.

Anti-sabotage, anti-terrorists and quick reaction forces have been deployed at the festival ground with sniffers to take care of the anti-social elements.
