Cuttack: Two judges of Odisha High Court today visited Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri to ascertain as to whether there has been any threat to Lion Gate (Singhadwara) of the 12th century shrine.

Justice Pradeepta Mohanty and Justice Indrajit Mahanti, who are adjudicating over a petition in this regard, visited the temple in the afternoon after the expert committee submitted its report and the affidavit made by Puri collector, who had earlier in his report called for immediate repair of the `Gumuta` of the Singhadwara.

An expert committee, headed by State Endowment Commissioner submitted its report to the high court in the morning and immediately after that, the judges decided that they should visit the place before deciding the case.

The district collector had earlier in his report said the gate of the shrine needs immediate repair for there is a possible threat to the devotees visiting the temple. The collector had also mentioned that the boundary wall (Meghanad Pacheri) has also become unsafe due to pressure from the nearby Badachhata Mutt building.
