High alert in Puri after Hyderbad twin blasts

Puri: Following the serial blasts in Hyderabad on Thursday evening, police sounded high alert in Puri, the major tourist destination of Odisha.
 
The security arrangements in and around the town have been beefed up. A team led by Puri DSP examined various locations including Jagannath Temple yesterday. Four inspectors along with DSP reviewed the security arrangements on the temple premises. More force have been deployed at every entrance gate of the temple while outside security personnels have been ordered to remain alert in view of the neighbor state capital incident.
 
Patrolling has been intensified across the town. Three teams of police led by three inspectors patrolled the sea beach area and examined various hotels.
 
On the other hand, DGP Prakash Mishra directed all superintendents of police to tighten the security measures in their respective districts.
 
Two powerful blasts in Hyderbad last evening killed 14 people while over 70 were injured. The incident, which rocked the country, was described dastardly by PM Manmohan Singh. Government declared Rs 2 lakh compensation to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
