Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation over west-central and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal off South Andhra has been triggering torrential spells of rainfall hitting normal life in many parts of the State since Tuesday.

A cyclonic circulation lies over south Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhood and under its impact, several Odisha districts will further experience enhanced rainfall activity in the next 24 hours, informed the Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre in its latest bulletin.

The Met Centre has also issued orange warning with heavy rainfall alert for the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Dhenkanal districts. Similarly, heavy rainfall forecast has also been issued for Cuttack, Khurdha, Puri and Nayagarh districts.

Heavy rainfall and thunderstorm alert has been issued for 13 districts of the State. The weather department said that the rain will continue to the batter the State for the coming 24 hours.

Incessant rainfall since Tuesday morning has led to acute waterlogging in several low lying areas of Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Puri disrupting vehicular traffic and hitting normal life. More than 100 houses in Gudipada area and other low lying areas of Balasore have remained inundated due to heavy downpour since the last three days.

In view of heavy rainfall, district administration of Ganjam and Gajapati today declared closure of all schools in the districts.
