Baripada: The health care services at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital of the district are in disarray owing to the shortage of beds at different wards in the hospital.

As per reports, less number of beds has compelled the patients to sleep on floor even in this bone chilling cold.

With less number of beds the expectant mothers suffer the worst. After the emergency delivery, both mother and new born are sleeping on the hospital floor due to lack of beds.

"From the very first day when I was admitted to the hospital, I have been sleeping on the floor as there are no beds available," alleged Nirati Rana, an expectant mother.

"Without bed it's very painful to sleep on the ground in this biting cold," said Premalata Pata, a patient's relative.

Patients and their attendants alleged that the hospital authorities are only providing a single bed sheet. Though more than 30 cases of delivery are being reported in the hospital every day, the unavailability of beds raises questions on management of the hospital administration.

Meanwhile, principal of Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College, N.N Soren informed that winter warm clothing will be distributed among the patients.

"Besides, I will raise the issue of unavailability of beds before the government and seek its intervention," he added.
