Bhubaneswar: The High Court today will hear a PIL that challenged the legality of the agitation by Odisha Contractual Nurses Association which entered 11th day on Wednesday.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice V Gopalagowda and Justice SK Mishra on Monday took cognizance of the PIL and asked the association why Essential Services maintenance Act (ESMA) would not be invoked against the agitating nurses.

The court had also directed the Chief Secretary, Health Secretary, superintendents of three medical colleges and Director of Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre to file their responses by Wednesday.
