Cuttack: As an interim relief for the mining companies whose accounts were frozen by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the mining scam, the Orissa High Court has ordered to make the accounts operational. Notably, challenging the probe by the Enforcement Directorate, two mining companies Indrani Patnaik and Thriveni Earthmovers moved the Orissa High Court.

However, the court has said that the fixed deposit accounts cannot be liquidated while they can be used as bank guarantees.
The court has also ordered the ED not to take any strict action against the petitioners and asked the ED to expedite investigation. The court has given 3 months time for the next hearing.
