HC lawyers desist from bandh, to boycott courts till Oct 30

Cuttack: In view of the changing scenario in the proposed permanent bench of Orissa High Court, the members of Orissa High court Bar Association today decided to desist from their proposed Cuttack bandh.
The Bar Association, however, decided to continue the ongoing boycott of courts till next Wednesday.
The decision came after a steering committee meeting with various representatives of important organisations here.
The high court lawyers are boycotting the courts for about a month now protesting against the state governments recommendation for setting up high court benches in southern and western Odisha.
"It has been unanimously resolved by the steering committee in presence of various organisations of the city that stern steps would be initiated in the event the state government plays with the image of the Honorable High Court," Bar Association Secretary Janmejaya Katakia said.
