HC bench: Western Odisha lawyers call for closure of govt offices in district from tomorrow

Sambalpur: Intensifying their demands for permanent High Court bench, the Sambalpur District Bar Association has called for closure of all Central and State government offices in the district from tomorrow.

According to sources, the lawyers have also threatened to observe ‘Mahabandh’ on November 29 and 30 to take up their demands.

As many as 100 social and cultural institutions have shown their support to participate in the stir.

The decision of ‘Mahabandh’ was taken in a review meeting held at the office of the bar association. The meeting was attended by lawyers and workers of various political parties, sources informed

Jitendriya Pradhan, president of Sambalpur District Bar Association said “We have decided to give complete support to the ‘Mahabandh’ called on November 29 and 30. We will take every measure to make it a success.”

The Kuchinda lawyers’ association has also extended support to the ‘Mahabandh’.
However, emergency services, banks and post offices will not be affected by the ‘bandh’, the bar association informed.
