Cuttack: The Odisha High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the state government asking it to file a status report on police investigation into the activities of a Bhubaneswar-based company in allegedly duping crores of rupees from people.

A single-judge bench of the HC comprising Justice Indrajit Mohanty today issued notices to the state government asking it to file a status report on police investigation into the matter within four weeks. The HC intervention came while adjudicating a batch of writs and a PIL filed by Nationalist Lawyers` Forum secretary.

Taking cognizance of the matter and in view of seriousness of the case, the HC asked the state government to file details about the progress made in police investigation till date. While the writs and the PIL have sought the HC intervention in helping the people getting back the money they have invested with the Company, doubting the ongoing police investigation.

The petitioners had appealed to the HC to order a CBI probe into activities of the firm which has allegedly duped many people and swindled amount to the tune of Rs 500 crore. After receiving several complaints, Bhubaneswar police have in the meantime arrested two senior executives of the Company, including its CMD. But it is alleged that the police investigation are not being done properly and police are not making any effort towards recovery of invested amount in the fraudulent company.
