Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Havildar, Sepoy and Constable Confederation today threatened to resort to mass cease work stir from February 1 protesting State government’s inability in fulfilling their several long standing demands including salary hike and abolition of contractual employment.

The confederation has alleged that despite reminding several times, neither the State government nor the concerned authorities have taken any concrete steps to fulfill their demands including correction of an anomaly in the 7th grade pay, abolition of contractual appointments, hike in various allowances and increase in insurance cover.

Addressing a presser, president of the confederation Santosh Satpathy today informed that the members and office bearers of the police body will first stage a dharna at the lower PMG in Bhubaneswar from January 28 and later If the State government does not fulfill their demands, the members will bring policing system to standstill when all the 62,000 constables, havildars and sepoys will go on a cease work from February 1.

"Members of as many as 50 other associate confederations including the 7th battalion, security association have also been urged to join the agitation at their respective battalions or headquarter offices," Satpathy said.
