Jeypore: As the world soaks itself in the magic of International Yoga Day, a young Havildar in Jeypore town of Koraput district is busy adding his bit of sparkle to the lives of young men in the area.

Rajesh Sahoo, posted in the OSAP third battalion, is imparting free physical fitness training to hundreds of youth aspiring for jobs in the Odisha Police and Indian Army.

Working towards his long cherished desire to increase representation of Jeypore youth in such jobs, Sahoo is  convinced about the importance of physical fitness in the recruitment process.

“I never had the chance to receive a professional training myself. But I understand that these departments, while recruiting always prioritise people with discipline and fitness. Hence I try to do my bit. My dream is to see more youth from our district represent the police force and work for the country,” Sahoo said.

The training sessions are conducted at the Jeypore Vikram Dev Autonomous college premises twice every day. Besides imparting the physical training, Sahoo constantly motivates the youngsters and handholds them to appear different competitive exams.While , scores of them have been appearing different exams, two youth have cleared the recent jail warder recruitment exam.

“His energy and enthusiasm motivated me and I used to attend the sessions without fail. It has definitely changed my life and I owe it to Rajesh Sahoo,” said Nitish Samantray , who was earlier working for a private  ice cream company and has cleared the jail warder exam.

Similarly, Ashutosh Singh, who was earlier working as a contractor said, “It is all because of Sir and I am really inspired by what he is doing. I too will join him in whatever possible way to train more youth in our area,” Singh reiterated.
