Gunupur Citizens Committee calls off strike

The committee which was on a strike since March 25 demanding the recruitment of doctors, functioning of the eye ward and blood bank in the Gunupur Sub-divisional Hospital here, called off their strike after the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) discussed with them and gave a written assurance to solve these issues.

The issue was even raised in the state Assembly by the opposition which forced the administration for a speedy solution to the problem.

However, the Citizens Committee is still dubious over the implementation of the CDMO’s assurance.
