Cuttack: Tension ran high at different places of the State on Sunday following group clashes over petty dispute.

According to reports, two communities clashed during a ‘kalash shoba yatra’ at Patapol in Cuttack district. The groups pelted stones and hurled bottles at each other. However, no one was injured in the incident.

After getting information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The district administration has deployed adequate number of police personnel in the area to avoid any untoward situation.

In another incident, section 144 was clamped at Nalapanga village under Pandapada police limits in Keonjhar district yesterday after members of a group attacked some of the family members of its rival group triggering tension in the area on Saturday.

Sources said the two communities were not in good terms over a land dispute. Earlier, a peace meeting was held in presence of officials of the district administration, but it remained inconclusive. Sources said one of the groups also gheraoed the Collectorate on November 2.

Meanwhile, the administration has stationed three platoons of forces in the village to maintain law and order.
