Group clash leaves four injured in Rayagada

Rayagada: Four persons were injured, two of them seriously, in a group clash at Jaykaypur while irate armed tribals torched several houses at Kalahandipada and Nuapada Sahi. Five platoons of police forces have been pressed into service to control the situation. The two critically injured persons, Ramu Pedenti and Ramesh Miniaka have been shifted to Vishakhapatnam. The two other injured persons have been identified as Dhanapati Bag and Sandeep Bag. Over one hundred houses have been destroyed in the incident.

Some youths of Kalahandipada under Jaykaypur locality on Wednesday passed obscene remarks against a girl from SPT locality. After that, sources said, some trouble mongers of Kalahandipada attacked few youths of Chandini locality. Today`s conflagration was a sequel to Monday`s attack.

Tribals armed with traditional weapons today morning attacked the youths from them other side and indulged in destruction of houses and arson. The irate mob set fire to over a dozen houses in Kalahandipada and destroyed over 50 houses. Over 20 houses were also damaged in Nuapada Sahi. The Rayagada police has detained nine youths of Kalahandipada locality. Five platoons of police forces were deployed to control the situation.
