Group clash after youths click photos of women while bathing

Rayagada: Residents of two villages clashed after some youths allegedly clicked photographs of women taking bath in a river at Gopikankubadi village of Rayagada district.

“The youths, who took the photographs, first denied taking our photographs. When they were asked to show their phones, they denied and challenged us to do whatever we can. They later returned with people from their village and thrashed our men,” said one of the women complainants who lodged a complaint at Therubali outpost.

Kirti Hikka, Ward Member of Gopikankubadi, said, “Youths from our village were tied-up and beaten. When other youths of our village came to know, they went there. Our youths tried to pacify the situation but they went ahead to file a police case.”

Speaking to mediapersons, Y Jagannath Rao, Additional SP, Rayagada said “The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) has been instructed to investigate the case. After an enquiry, appropriate action will be taken in this regard. Meanwhile, police personnel have been stationed in the village to keep a strict vigil.”
