Rourkela: The state government on Thursday filed an affidavit in connection with Rourkela judicial magistrate assault case.

According to reports, the Additional Secretary, Home Department in his affidavit provided the infrastructural facilities to the enquiry commission for the assault case. Earlier the retired judge of High court justice AS Naidu was appointed to head commission investigating the case.

According to the affidavit, senior police officer, Prakash Chandra Behera has been appointed as the nodal officer in the case and soon two senior advocates will be appointed. 

This apart, to carry out the investigation process, a fund Rs 20 lakh has been allocated for the Commission.

Also in connection with the case, demands were made to include more of the activities of Rourkela police under the purview of investigation. The next hearing on this case will be on June 28.   

It may be recalled that on 2nd April Judicial Magistrate (First class) Arun Patnaik was allegedly beaten up by a police official named Sadanand Pujari and subsequently advocate Dayanidhi Lenka filed a petition in High court.

After the advocates all around the state raged their voices protesting against the incident happened, the government had ordered for a probe.
