Bhubaneswar: The state government on Wednesday asked the collectors of six districts to provide logistical support to the CBI teams for conducting a transparant investigation into the alleged corruption in the implementation of MGNREGA, official sources said.

The direction was given by Panchayati Raj Secretary P K Jena who chaired a meeting of collectors and project directors of district rural development agency (DRDA) of Kalahandi, Bolangir, Koraput, Nuapada, Nawrangpur and Rayagada.

The meeting took place ahead of the arrival of CBI`s special team to probe into the alleged multi-crore corruption in the six districts.

"The district collectors were informed about the SC order. They were told to provide whatever documents CBI people wanted for the investigation," Jena told reporters.

The CBI was recently asked by the apex court to probe into the alleged corruption in the rural job scam under the MGNREGA in the districts.

The court gave this direction while disposing a PIL filed by a Delhi-based NGO which alleged largescale corruption of about Rs 500 crore in the six districts during 2006-07.

The CBI was asked to submit its first probe report within six months.
