Governor asks Khurda administration to identify sites for martyrs' memorial pillar

Khurda: Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal has directed the Khurda district administration to identify sites for construction of the martyr's morial pillar in Khurda at the earliest.

"I have asked the Collector to hold talks with local MLA, MP and general public to identify at least three places. A copy of the decision should be intimated to the State government and Raj Bhavan. We will try to build the pillar as early as possible," said Lal.

After paying rich tribute to Jayee Rajguru on his 212nd Martyrdom Day on Thursday, the Governor stated, "A martyrs' memorial pillar should be built in the district as a tribute to the indomitable sacrifices of our freedom fighters."

Moreover, the Governor also advised the district administration to produce patriotic movies projecting sacrifices and courageous deeds of freedom fighters which could be an inspiration for future generation.

The Governor also felicitated eminent personalities for their contributions in different fields of the society.
