Goons loot Rs 2 lakh after hurling bombs in Nayagarh

Nayagarh: Miscreants today looted Rs 2 lakh from three Panchayat officials after hurling bombs on them while they were returning from bank after withdrawing the money to disburse pension.

According to sources, Saranakula Zilla Parishad member Mahendra Pradhan, Magarbandha panchayat gram rojgar sevak (GRS) Santosh Swain and panchayat executive officer Santosh Sarangi withdrew Rs 2 lakh from Saradhapur branch of Andhra Bank.

The incident occurred while all of trio was returning on a bike. The extortionists first stopped their bike and hurled bombs on them to scare them. They then attacked the three before fleeing with the amount, they added.

Pradhan and Swain, who were injured in the attack, were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital here. Police have reached the spot and started investigation.
