Bhubaneswar: Officials of the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs have thwarted yet another attempt of smuggling of gold through the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. The gold seized collectively weighed 283.240 grams and was valued at Rs 9.83 lakh.

According to reports, the officials acting on a spot intelligence intercepted the passenger hailing from Kolkata, after he arrived from Bangkok in an Air Asia flight FD- 112 .

After the officials searched his hand baggage, they recovered silver coated metal rings made up of gold of foreign origin and tactfully concealed in the buttons of the garments.
An investigation is currently underway.
