Bhubaneswar: Gold weighing 1310.650 grams and estimated to be worth over Rs 50 lakh was seized at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) on Wednesday.

As per reports, the gold was recovered from a passenger of Indian origin hailing from Kozhikode, Kerala, who arrived in Bhubaneswar from Kuala Lumpur by an AirAsia flight.

Officials of Air Customs recovered the gold while conducting a search based on intelligence inputs, revealed a press release by the Commissionerate of Customs, Bhubaneswar.

Commending the efforts of customs officials, Commissioner of Customs, Bhubaneswar, Debasish Sahu reiterated the department’s commitment and vigilance to foil every kind of smuggling through BPIA.
