Bhubaneswar: Girl students of Indira Institute of Medical Science and Research at GA Colony in Bharatpur area here on Saturday brought sexual harassment allegations against the owner of the paramedical Institute.

The accused Kodanda Sahu allegedly used to sexually assault the girl students of the institute.

Tension ran high in the college on Saturday after the girls came out together and gheraoed Sahu. Later, parents of the girls informed police and reportedly lodged a complaint.

A girl alleged that Sahu used to sexually harass and torture them. Besides, the girls demanded their course fee back as they no longer want to continue in the institute.

“He (Sahu) has taken a total of Rs 36,000 from each one of us in two years. We want that money from him as well as the hostel due. We also want our certificate and demand stringent action against him,” said a student.

“The girls informed me that they were being tortured and assaulted. They were also not being provided proper meal. This is a condemnable incident,” said Shreya Mohanty, a member of Bhubaneswar unit of Mahila Congress.

Meanwhile, police have reportedly detained Sahu. Investigating into the incident as per the complaint of the girls, said a police official.
