Bhadrak: Girl students of BNMA College in Paliabindha under Tihidi block of Bhadrak district have brought charges of harassment and threat against an official of the college.

As per allegations, one employee named Akshay had demanded a bribe of Rs 4,000 from them at the time of their admission into undergraduate courses. They denied to pay him the bribe and complained the college authorities by producing a phone recording of bribe being demanded as evidence. However, the authorities didn't act on their complaint, they alleged.

Encouraged by the inaction on the part of the college authorities, Akshay allegedly started to harass the students following which the girls complained to the District Collector and the SP.

Describing her ordeal, a student, Nibedita Barik said, "We are being harassed by goons on our way to college. It's quite hard for us to bear this kind of harassment."

Another student, Laxmipriya Behera said, "The goons are threatening us on our way to college. They even changed my photograph in the admit card of the semester examination to deliberately disqualify me from appearing the exams."

Meanwhile, the Additional Collector of the district has reportedly assured the students to look into the matter.

No comments could be obtained either from the accused or from the college authorities.
