Cuttack: A huge Stingray was fished out from Kandal River by some fishermen in Niali area of Cuttack district Friday morning.

As per reports, a group of local fishermen were fishing in Kandal river at Balikuda Ghat in the morning when they witnessed a huge fish get entangled in their net. Upon close inspection, they identified the fish to be a Stingray locally called 'Sankucha' and immediately pulled it out of the water.

The forest department officials have been informed about the giant fish which is stated to be weighing over one and a half quintal.

Sources said the fish will be released into the river after its health inspection by veterinarians.

Local residents have begun to gather at the spot in huge numbers to witness the aquatic creature which is generally found near Odisha in the shallow coastal waters of the sea.
