Bhubaneswar: In order to assist people facing hardships in getting their driving licences and other papers pertaining to vehicles at regional transport offices (RTOs) in the city, the Odisha Transport department has come up with new facilities to help people obtain their necessary documents.

According to sources, the department has set up special camps at Saheed Nagar BMC office and Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) premises for issuing learner's licences from tomorrow.

People can visit the camps and get them registered to avail learner's licences without worrying to book any slots for the same. The camps will remain open from 10 am to 5 pm daily till October 4.

It may be mentioned here that the state government had opened five additional driving licence centres—four in Bhubaneswar and one in Khurda—to meet the unprecedented public rush after the enforcement of the amended MV act.

In view of growing resentment among people over collection of hefty fines under the new rules, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has relaxed the norms for three months to help people get their documents ready within time.
