Puri: There might be an age-limit for retirement from a service. But there is no age limit for learning or acquiring knowledge. What is required is the fact that one shoud not be mentally tired to know. The Father of Knowledge, great philosopher Socrates had advocated it.

And none knows it likely better than Gayadhar Panda. Gayadhar hails from village Sanakandia under Satyabadi block of Puri district. He is a retired government servant. His hunger for knowldge is seen to be believed.

Gayadhar has to literally get into the shoes of those who are of his son`s or for that matter his grand-son`s age. So what? It is no impediment for Gayadhar and before his strong determination to study for gathering knowledge. He mingles with them just like another classmate of his college.

Gayadhar`s family comprises of his wife Geetanjali, two sons, one daughter and one grand-son. He as such is affable by nature and loves to crack jokes. Hence he is easily saccepted by one and all. Gayadhar does not neglect his family either. Though not rich by any standard Gayadhar leads a happy life. What makes him more happier is the fact that he realised the importance of knowledge. He has become an inspiration for many. He has proved that if one is determined age is no bar to have fun and learn.
