Gas tanker overturns on Banjari Ghat in Kalahandi, vehicular movement affected

 A gas tanker overturned at the Banjari Ghat area of Kalahandi district on Wednesday evening, prompting a major precautionary response from the administration. Although reports indicate a suspected gas leak from the vehicle, police have not confirmed it so far.

Police officials and administration reached the spot swiftly and immediately cordoned off the area. The accident took place on a ghati road with no human settlement within a 2–3 km radius, reducing immediate risk to nearby populations.

Bhawanipatna Sub-Collector Prabhat Kumar Parida is also present at the spot and closely monitoring the situation, and has not yet announced any risk factors.

Vehicular movement on both sides of the Kalahandi-Rayagarh National Highway has been halted as a precautionary measure. Officials stated that the road will remain closed until the tanker is safely removed.

The tanker driver has reportedly sustained injuries in the accident and has been admitted to the Bhawanipatna District Headquarters Hospital.
