Ganjam becomes first e-district in State
With this the people will get computerised certificates from the tehsil offices, official sources said today.
In future people will not have to visit tehsil office to get their required certificates. They can get it from the panchayat office with on-line processing, said district collector Krishan Kumar.
Caste, residence, solvency, income and legal heir are being processed online, the sources said.
Other services like social security schemes including pensions, PDS, RTI and revenue court cases would be implemented in a phased manner.
The computerisation of the gram panchayat offices are going on under the state wide area network project.
With operationalisation of e-district project, the manual system of issue of certificate will be discontinued, said nodal officer of the project, Shatrughan Kar.
The online project is implemented in the district under Centre`s National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). Ganjam is among 18 districts across the country and second in State selected for the e-District project in pilot basis.
Mayurbhanj is the other district in the state selected for this project.
Under the project revenue circles have been connected with tehsil offices and common service centers(CSC) set up by the private entrepreneurs and with the gram panchayats.
People can apply for the needed certificates at any CSC near their house or in the panchayat offices. Within a week of apply, one can get the required certificate.
The people, however, have to pay a nominal service charge to avail the benefit of the scheme.
We have set up single window computerised centers in each tehsil offices for implementation of the programme at present. Subsequently, we will connect it to other CSCs and the panchayat offices, sources said.
The government has sanctioned for setting up of 523 CSC in the district. While 468 have been set up and around 200 of them have started functioning, the sources added.
