Ganja trade suspected in businessman Balaram Sahu missing case; girlfriend under scanner

Seven years after the mysterious disappearance of businessman Balaram Sahu, Odisha Police have reopened the case and intensified the investigation in an attempt to uncover the truth behind one of the state’s most puzzling unresolved incidents. The renewed probe has brought fresh focus to the 2019 missing case, raising hopes of a breakthrough.

Girlfriend Taken on Police Remand

As part of the renewed investigation, Balaram’s girlfriend, Rashmita Swain, has been taken on police remand from Jharpada jail and is being interrogated for the second consecutive day. Police sources said several crucial leads have emerged during questioning. Investigators suspect that Balaram was abducted and that Rashmita may have been directly or indirectly involved in the incident.

Police have also found indications that the case could be linked to illegal narcotics dealings. According to investigators, both Balaram and Rashmita were allegedly associated with ganja trafficking, and a dispute related to the drug trade may have led to the businessman’s disappearance.

Police Confirm Multiple Angles of Investigation

Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagamohan Meena said the case is being examined thoroughly. “This is a long-pending case that has now been taken up for review. Family members and witnesses have been examined. The suspects have been detained, arrested, and taken on a two-day remand. The investigation is still ongoing,” he said.

Key Questions Remain Unanswered

Despite police claiming to have received significant clues, several critical questions remain unresolved. Investigators are yet to determine what happened to Balaram after the alleged abduction, where he was taken, and whether he is still alive. The possibility of a larger network being involved is also being examined.

Balaram Sahu went missing under mysterious circumstances in 2019, and his family has since received no information about his whereabouts. Although multiple investigations were carried out over the years, the case had gone cold until recent developments revived hope for answers.

More Revelations Expected

Rashmita Swain was arrested from Ganjam district around 15 days ago, following which the police decided to reopen the case in detail. Officials said the investigation is continuing on multiple fronts, and further revelations are expected in the coming days as the probe progresses.
