Malkangiri: The Odisha Excise department officials on Sunday raided the ganja farmlands near Mangalajodi village under Orkel police limits in the district and destroyed cannabis plantation worth Rs 2 crore.

Acting on a tip off, the officials conducted surprise raid in the village and seized cannabis cultivated in around 22 acre of land. Later, the plants were set on fire by the officials.

“We have launched a drive to destroy ganja plantation in Malkangiri district from today. As part of the drive, our officials today destroyed cannabis plants in around 22 acre under Mangaljodi forest area,” informed an excise department official, Ashok Kumar Seth.
