Ganja-laden vehicle rams into bike during police chase in Odisha, driver detained

Realising that the police were chasing him, the driver allegedly drove the car at a very high speed. During the escape attempt, the vehicle collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

A vehicle carrying cannabis met with an accident on Wednesday at Shankhamala Chhak under Kiakata Police Station in Angul district after attempting to evade police. The police were pursuing the vehicle after receiving information that it was travelling from the Kiakata Bridge area in Boudh towards Sambalpur.

Realising that the police were chasing him, the driver allegedly drove the car at a very high speed. During the escape attempt, the vehicle collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The motorcyclist is reported to be critical and was immediately rushed to a medical facility for treatment.

Vehicle Seized, Driver Detained

The police managed to stop the vehicle soon after the crash. The car was seized, and the driver was taken into custody. While Boudh police were escorting the detained driver to Boudh police station, personnel from Kiakata police station remained at the spot to guard the seized vehicle.

Road Blockade by Locals

Following the incident, locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation for the injured motorcyclist. As a result, vehicular movement on the Sankhamala–Sonepur road came to a complete standstill.
