Bhubaneswar: The special task force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch has arrested Bapu Parida, another close aide of arrested gangster Sayed Usman Ali alias Tito on charges of extortion and issuing murder threats.

The STF arrested Bapu after interrogating him for the second time today. With Bapu, the number of arrested associates of the notorious gangster has increased to 14.

Official sources said, Bapu who was the secretary of the Nirakar Dumper Association based in Paradip has around 28 criminal cases against his name out of which two cases have been registered in Kujang, one at Chauliaganj police station and others in Paradip.

As per police sources, several cases of murder, firing, and abduction bid are pending against his name and Bapu’s link with the ruling-BJD leaders is also under the scanner of the Crime Branch.

Meanwhile, the Vigilance has unearthed links of Tito with some police personnel and bureaucrats. Moreover, during collection of data from Cuttack Regional Transport Office, the Vigilance has found that out of 60 vehicles, 25 have been registered in the name of Tapu, another associate of gangster Tito.
