Bhubaneswar: A local court on Tuetoday sentenced gangster Sandeep Acharya alias Raja to one years rigorous imprisonment for threatening an Odia album artist.
Acharya, who is undergoing life imprisonment for the murder of Biranchi Das, the coach of child marathon runner Budhia Singh, was convicted for threatening Lesli Tripathy, an album artist.
The Judicial Magistrate, First Class (JMFC), Bhubaneswar convicted Raja under section 506 of IPC.
The court pronounced the punishment after examining five witnesses and Raja`s mobile phone used in sending threatening SMS to Tripathy.
Das was gunned down at the Judo Coaching Centre on April 13, 2008.
