Rourkela: In a gun battle between police and criminals, a member of the ‘Pahadi Chita’ gang was killed while another member was arrested at Badagaon in Sundergarh district on Friday.
Police seized a pistol, a US-made gun and 10 live bullets near the encounter spot.
The criminal received grievous bullet injuries during the encounter before being admitted to the hospital. However, he died while undergoing treatment.
A similar encounter was taken place between police and the same gang on February 4 at Satajuri area under Talasara police station in which a member of the gang was killed and a police constable was injured in retaliation by the criminals.
Notably, the anti-social group is involved in extortion, murder and dacoit cases, police sources said.
