Gajapati: The Chairperson of Special Development Council (SDC) in Gajapati district, Antarjyami Gamango, resigned from his post on Wednesday. Gamango tendered his resignation after his wife Purnabasi Nayak was given a ticket by the BJD to contest elections from Mohana Assembly constituency in the district.

Gamango stated that he resigned in order to maintain discipline in the party and uphold the party’s ‘one ticket one family’ ideology. “My wife was declared BJD candidate from Mohana Assembly. Therefore, in order to maintain transparency in the party, I tendered resignation from the post,” said Gamango.

However, he said that he will continue working for the people of his constituency as a disciplined member of the party.

On the other hand, BJD’s Nabarangpur district Vice President Bhagirathi Nayak resigned from his post as well as from the primary membership of the party. Alleging ignorance from the party, Nayak sent his resignation to the district president through the Jharigaon block president.

Nayak was the former chief of Nabarangpur Zilla Parishad and had joined BJD after resigning from Congress.
