Bhubaneswar: The proceedings of the monsoon session of Odisha Assembly were disrupted following ruckus created by ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) over fuel price rise and also by Congress members on teachers’ agitation in the State.

The monsoon session of the Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes after BJD members staged protest over rising prices of petrol and diesel.

On the other hand, the Congress raised the issue of teachers’ strike which has led to severe disruption in imparting education to students across the State.

The Congress alleged that due to the strike by teachers for the last 23 days, various schools are now locked up. They also brought an adjournment motion on the issue which has been accepted by Odisha Assembly Speaker.

Following the pandemonium, Speaker of Odisha Assembly adjourned the House till 3 PM today.

Leader of the Opposition Narasingha Mishra on the other hand termed such adjournment of the House as ‘undemocratic’.
